Is it strange that I am still a Christian but HATE apologetics? All I see them doing is reinforcing their already unconscious biases, which adds nothing to debate. In other words, people are just simply going to believe what they believe (or lack of belief). I think apologists do most of their "work" just for self-praise.

The rejection of the cosmological argument, here and elsewhere rings false to me. A chain of causes and effects does not explain itself sufficiently. Arguing for a transcendent cause then does not fall under the heading of using theology as a gapfiller. Arguing that you cannot do that because then the transcendent cause needs a transcendent cause is unconvincing, because it us not absurd to say that we cannot comprehend the transcendent cause but can only tentatively posit it. Saying that the world itself may be uncaused runs into the problem that everything we can see of it seems contingent rather than logically necessary. Of course, the gentleman is right in stressing that no type of cosmological argument brings us nearer to a Christian or any form of personal God.

On Design: 1) If God is all-powerful, why would he need to fine-tune anything? He could create humans who could live in a vacuum and effortlessly flit from galaxy to galaxy. He wouldn't need to develop complex atoms, molecules, etc. but could create planets, life, and stars out of some simple magical material, constants not required. 2) My fav design argument is when apologists claim that Earth is in a Goldilocks zone where the slightest distance closer to or farther from the sun would make life impossible. Only, Earth's orbit is elliptical, so at times the Earth is close to the sun; sometimes very far away. Hilarious.
